I found a singing Louisiana Waterthrush along Archertown Brook in Orford
today. At Tullando Farm I had a singing Vesper Sparrow in the lower
hayfield and another Brown Thrasher along the river. It could be the same
one I had at Reed's Marsh a few days ago, not far upriver. I saw a Belted
Kingfisher exiting from a nest hole along the river bank, a pair of
American Kestrels around the nest box and got word of a possible hatchling
at the Bald Eagle nest. Both adults were in the nest while I was there. The
Merlin pair at the corner of Archertown Road and Route 10 are very
reliable, in fact I don't think I have ever seen a bird seemingly never
move from a perch for so long. Every time I go by, the female seems to be
on the same branch!
