Was "peenting" away here in Thetford at 7:45 this evening.  He then launched
into a partial aerial courtship display.

 

I have been here for 32 years...and a male Am. Woodcock (or multiple) have
blessed us with his/their remarkable courtship displays all these years.
All right from our front porch or if i/we wander closer.

 

I even mow some pasture in fall to keep his singing ground open.

 

Ah, a sign of spring !!
