IALLT (International Association for Language Learning Technology) uses surveys to obtain accurate information about the state of language technology and language centers/labs.  This information is then shared in aggregate at the next IALLT conference and other venues.  The information gathered is often used to help job candidates contextualize salaries, inform administrators creating job descriptions, assist those planning lab renovations, inform directors about trends and the direction the field is heading, etc.
