DCAL’s Learning Community for Future Faculty - 8 Things to know about Assessment and Student Learning

In order to cultivate a community focused on teaching and learning amongst graduate students and postdocs, DCAL has established a Learning Community for Future Faculty (LCFF). The focus of this group is to share the rewards and challenges of college teaching, while digging a bit deeper into best practices and techniques for teaching. This month we’ll talk about 8 things to know about assessment and student learning.

The LCFF meets monthly on the 2nd Monday of the month. We’re looking for a facilitators for upcoming sessions on topics recommended by the group or chosen by the facilitator. If you’d like more teaching experience, consider volunteering!


Short-term faculty opportunity for PhD level science trainees

Citizen Science is a scientific literacy program required of all first year students at Bard College, regardless of intended major. Held in January, this intensive program introduces our students to scientific thinking by engaging them in problem-based learning classroom, computing and laboratory experiences. We are currently accepting applications from excellent scientists with a demonstrated interest in excellent undergraduate education. Ropes Course Facilitator Training: Six week course, designed for student,
administrators, and community leaders, interested in working with the Dartmouth
Ropes Courses. These courses are designed to help a group work effectively
together. The events demand effort, commitment and physical exertion by all as
the group work to solve problems, are designed to develop trust and confidence
in each other. Thursdays April 13 - May 18 3:30-6pm
