I heard and saw a male woodcock doing its mating call and flight on Wed eve across from Price Shopper in Windsor. Does seem early.

Drove the scenic route back from Lyme today along Grafton Turnpike and was surprised to see an American Woodcock foraging on the road. It presented great views for a few moments before hurdling away and giving its characteristic alarm twitter. Seems pretty early for a woodcock.
