Bob White ******************************************************************************************************* The archaeological site that I'm focusing on is the remains of Himera, Greece in modern Sicily, and the focus of the research proposal is bone collagen isotope analysis to determine dietary patterns in the civilian and military populations that have skeletal assemblages there. Essentially I'm hoping that you might be able to put me in touch with someone that could point me in the direction of any classical literature that provides an account or mention of life in Himera (if such a piece exists at all). More generally though I'm also interested in finding some first person accounts of what the Greeks were or were not eating circa 450 BCE. I'm particularly interested in investigating possible differences in diet between the sexes, age groups or classes, so any type of account of what a prescribed healthy diet for a man or soldier vs. a woman or child that might be found in classic Greek literature would also be helpful. Talking to someone who could give me a general idea of where I might even start to look for this type of writing would be extremely helpful. ******************************************************************************************************* ######################################################################## To unsubscribe from the ANCIENT-FOOD-TECH list, click the following link: https://listserv.dartmouth.edu/scripts/wa.exe?SUBED1=ANCIENT-FOOD-TECH
