Around 7 this morning, here in the hills above Strafford, VT, I was delighted to see five Evening Grosbeaks around my sunflower feeders. Two were adult males, two females, and one perhaps a younger bird, looking duller in coloring than the others. The two males had flecks of bright red on their bills and after investigating around the snow-covered yard, I confirmed that they had been eating Sumac berries. Such a wonderous early winter we're having! Susan Tiholiz 214-478-7395 (cell) To post messages, send e-mail to: [log in to unmask] Set your e-mail application to PLAIN TEXT ONLY to post messages.
