I just returned from Kilowatt South, where the river is >80% frozen and not
a single waterfowl was to be found. However, a solitary female Pine
Grosbeak was a nice surprise. I first heard the bird calling and then found
it perched atop the large bare maple(?) on Passumpsic Ave above the gated
access road. I watched the bird for ~30 seconds and was fumbling with my
iPhone to take a digiscope photo when it flew off towards Wilder village. I
did not see it in the crab apple trees in front of the Wilder PO 15 minutes
later.

Other birds included 7 Mourning Doves, 2 American Robins, a single N.
Mockingbird, and 6 N. Cardinals.
