Looked up from my desk about 8:30 this morning to see not one but two
pileated woodpeckers ‹ a male and a female alight on a maple tree across
the yard. Every fall around this time we see an occasional pileated along
our road up here in Sawnee Bean, but I've never seen two together. Fun to
watch. Hope they return.
