The School of International Letters & Cultures (SILC) at Arizona State University (Tempe Campus) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of Spanish Linguistics with a specialization in Second Language Acquisition/ Applied Linguistics
and specific expertise in online language teaching and research. Anticipated start date is August 16, 2017. Arizona State University is the nation’s leading major public university committed to inclusion and excellence in research and education. SILC’s online

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition/ Applied Linguistics at the time of hire.
·
Native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English
·
Demonstrated experience in coordinating and/or developing online courses or programs
·
A record of published research on Second Language Acquisition/ Applied Linguistics.
Desired Qualifications:
·
Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate linguistics courses
·
Experience at the post-secondary level in supervising Spanish Language Programs
·
Research focus in Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL)
·
Demonstrated effectiveness in college-level teaching, including online courses
·
Demonstrated success meeting the needs of diverse student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities
The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate the Spanish online language program; collaborate in training teaching assistants; teach undergraduate and graduate courses; and participate in service to the university and profession as appropriate in
rank.
