Sorry everyone. Didn't realize listserv replies went out to everyone. My last email was meant for Brandt only. Oh well. Good luck to our buzzard's bay competitors! And welcome to all our new club members (the 20's)

Hi everyone!!

It was great to see so many new faces today at practice and the meeting, as well as to catch up with some older faces.
But no worries if you couldn't make it or missed something from the meeting. Here is all the important information you'll need to know for triathlon and this term

General Info:
We are a pretty new team (we were founded 3 years ago). That being said, we've grown a lot over the past year and our rosters are usually over 30 people. We have a great exec board: a group of upperclassmen who keep track of finances, order gear, organize fundraising, etc. They know a lot about the team, so always feel free to ask them any questions you have as well. We also have two AWESOME coaches, Jeff and Jim. They are both incredible athletes with a lot of coaching experience and triathlon-specific knowledge, and they're even better people! We are a co-ed team and open to any level of athletic experience. We've had everyone from people who can't swim across the pool on their first day to national-level triathletes or varsity athletes here at Dartmouth. While we do like to win, our main goal is to have fun and get faster.

Practice Schedule:

Monday: Track workout, 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM, location TBD (either Dartmouth or Hanover High track)
Tuesday: Spin, 8:15 AM - 9:15 AM, Alumni gym (upstairs)
Wednesday: Strength, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Manley (basement of Alumni gym)
Thursday: Swim, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM, Karl Michael pool (big pool in Alumni gym)
Friday: Outdoor ride 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM, meet at Alumni gym steps
Saturday: Swim, 12:00 PM - 1:45 PM, Karl Michael pool

Races:
We generally do one race in the fall, an indoor race in the winter, one in the spring, and then a few over the summer(if you're around!!). We'll keep you updated on all the racing opportunities as they arise.

Social:
We love working out, but we also love hanging out together. We have weekly team dinners, and on the agenda for this term are a diner breakfast, a hike, some type of mini-tri and a lou's finals breakfast. Hydration Pong will probably happen too

Logistics
PE Credit:
If you want PE credit, login and register for tri team on banner. You need 13 practices to receive PE credit. Start early and get your 3 mandatory PE credits out of the way with tri team!
Listserve:
If you got this email you are on our listserve. We use this to let everyone know important info, like race sign-ups or practice changes, etc. If you have something you want to tell everyone, a question for the team or something you want everyone to know send it to the listserve!
Groupme:
We also use a groupme a lot. This is more for quick, informal things, like asking if someone has a spare pair of goggles, if anyone wants to go on a run at 5, or if you just need someone to get a meal with. If you want to be in it just give us your number and we'll add you. I also usually use this to remind people of practice times, changes, or locations.

Orgsync:
Most Dartmouth organizations use an organizationl platform called Orgsync, where everyone will fill out relevant forms electronically. Everyone on the team MUST complete a participation waiver to be able to practice with us. It is pretty quick to fill out, but since many of you haven't used Orgsync before, here are the steps to get you there!!

1.)Search "Orgsync Dartmouth", click on the first link
2.)Click "Sign in with Campus ID", and sign in with your Dartmouth Net ID and password
3.)You'll come to a main menu page. On the upper search bar type "tri"
4.) The top result will be the Triathlon Club portal. Click on it. You'll see a button that says "join now". Join the tri team portal.
5.) Once you have joined the Triathlon Club portal, click on the "Forms" tab.
6.) Fill out the "Club Sports Participation Waiver (valid July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017)"
7.) The form just asks you for basic insurance info, and takes like 5 minutes to fill out.

I'm asking that everyone complete this by Saturday's practice. If you have any questions or run into any problems, message me and I can help you work them out. (Note that if you've done this for another club sport, it does count for triathlon. However, I don't see that you've done it, so if you're in this situation please just tell us!)

Finances:
Sonia is our finance executive. We generally charge dues at $25 dollars a term, 20s and new team members do not have to pay dues this fall. Feel free to try out the team and see if you like it!! Generally, dues help us pay lifeguards, reserve workout rooms, provide transportation and lodging for races, and sometimes even some social events.
Generally individuals pay for their own races, but we often give each person back money in subsidy to make races more affordable. We also do fundraising as a team, which can actually be pretty fun and helps us to pay for all the things mentioned above.

Financial Aid:
We are super lucky to have great support from our Alumni and club sports such that if you are worried at all about dues, race expenses, etc., we can offer financial aid. If you are interested, please blitz one of the captains and be assured that it will be confidential.

We are super excited for this term and hope to see you all at practice!
