Perhaps Powerful Tools for Caregivers will be beneficial to you and your loved one. Still time to sign up! The Sullivan County ServiceLink Resource Center is currently registering participants for Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a free, six-week course designed to help family caregivers: 1) reduce personal stress; 2) effectively communicate their own needs so that they can remain healthy; and 3) better communicate needs of their loved ones to health care providers. An estimated 21% of Americans are informal caregivers. One third of these caregivers report symptoms of depression and anywhere from 11% to 17% report their health has deteriorated due to their caregiving responsibilities. “The tools that we discussed were very helpful. The positive self-talk, action plans and communication techniques are all things I plan to use more and more,” commented a New Hampshire caregiver who completed the Powerful Tools for Caregivers series. NEW DATES for The Powerful Tools for Caregivers series will be held Thursdays beginning September 15th - October 20th from 1:00 PM to 3:30PM at the Sullivan County ServiceLink Resource Center located at 224 Elm Street, Claremont. The Caregivers who need help with either transportation to the class or someone to care for their loved one should speak to the ServiceLink staff about available options when they sign up for the class.
