UV Birders:

Not a bird sighting, but at 7:30 AM this morning on my drive to work climbing W. Wheelock Street in Hanover from the Ledyard Bridge: A red fox ran across the road, headed from north to south, just East of the corner with West St. That would mean the fox was coming from the Thayer School, Dartmouth Cemetery area of the campus. Perhaps headed back to the Mink Brook area at the top of West St. after a night of raiding trashcans on campus?

A bit unusual in broad daylight on the streets of Hanover! I've seen them after dark patrolling the parking lots at DHMC, but don't think I've ever seen one in town during the day.

Additionally, on a sad note, a "sort of" bird sighting - on a bike ride from Norwich to Pompy and back along Rte 5 on Friday evening:

2 dead Redstarts by the side of the road, likely road kill from a passing car. One male, one female, oddly enough not together, but about 1.5 miles apart. Fortunately got to see (and hear) several live Redstarts on the Mystery Trail in Thetford during the Feathered Friday walk that morning.
