Hey everyone,

Finally had some free time this afternoon and decided to check some bodies of water in lieu of reports from others about terns.

I first checked Kilowatt, but the only bird of note was a Spotted Sandpiper on the log out in the river. Then I traveled over to Dewey's pond and saw the Common Tern previously reported by Chris Rimmer; it was flying around occasionally, always returning to the same stick. The walk out along the pond was fantastic too, very birdy. Saw my FOS Yellow Warblers here, as well as 2 Palm Warblers, one eastern and one western. Nice diversity of swallows flying around as well. I then checked Lake Pinneo but the only birds on the water that I saw were a pair of American Black Ducks. An interesting goose on the golf course, with the Canadas, got me excited but it just turned out to be a Graylag.

I then traveled up to Pompy flats where there was a lone male Hooded Merganser. Kendall Station Rd proved more productive, with some nice mixed flock activity, with the highlight being 3 Nashville Warblers in the same tree; FOS. Also saw an adult Green Heron fly down the small canal between the road and the railroad tracks. I then swung over to Campbell Flats, but not much there outside of sparrows; the Lesser Yellowlegs was still present though, on the left of the grassy walkway/road leading out to where the beaver dam was.

What a great afternoon and evening to be out!

Cheers,
