When the rain stopped, I headed out for a few hours, checking my favorite spots from Orford to Haverhill, then Newbury to Fairlee. A few highlights: nine species of waterfowl on Reed's Marsh (mostly the riverside, not Route 10 side) including Ring-necked Ducks, Green-winged Teal, Buffleheads and a male and female Northern Pintail. At the mouth of the Waits River from Depot Road in Bradford, many Green-winged Teal and a Blue-winged Teal. I counted 31 GWTE at first, but when they were flushed, many more appeared out of the cat-tails, at least twice that many! I noted Ring-billed Gulls all afternoon, including at Tullando Farm and the Jacob's Brook Outlet in Orford, at Newbury Crossing and the most (19) on Lake Morey.
