A walk this morning on N. Thetford Rd. produced a first of season grackle - only one - sighting.

As I write, the home property feeders are under assault by 100+/- pine siskins, easily passing the previous season high of 55. Conversely, goldfinch numbers have declined steeply. Counts that numbered in the 40s over the last four weeks now don't surpass the ten individuals mark.
