An eleven a.m. walk along the River Rd. segment that runs from Grant Brook to Hewes Brook. provided encounters with both species of waxwings. A flock of 15+/- bohemian waxwings was observed feeding in a roadside, wooded area just north of the Wilder WMA. A mile farther south, 10+/- cedar waxwings were seen foraging in the woods just north of where the road crosses Hewes Brook. Accurate counts of both flocks were difficult to get given their constant movement and the obstructed view created by trying to see in through the trees and understory.
