This post in the area of TESOL with expertise in Language Curriculum Design, Written Language and Literacy (first and second language) will make a vital addition to the expanding team in English Language and Applied Linguistics. The post-holder will be expected to bring a developing research reputation in one or more of the specified areas, evidenced by publications in relevant journals and applications for grant funding.

The post-holder will develop, teach on, and conduct assessment for, modules on the BA, MA and PhD programmes in English Language, Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching, and share in the administration of the above degree programmes and their related activities.

The post-holder will conduct and supervise research, and engage actively in the research opportunities offered by Reading's unique cross-faculty Centre for Research in Literacy and Multilingualism, the International Study and Language Institute, and other interdisciplinary research platforms across the university.

Experience of academic administration is also desirable; knowledge of distance and/or blended learning would be advantageous.

You will have:

- A PhD in Applied Linguistics or a relevant field

- Specialisms in Language Curriculum Design, Written Language and Literacy (first and second language) and one or more of the following: Teaching Spoken Language; English for Specific Purposes; IT for Language Teachers; Language Testing and Assessment

- A developing reputation for research excellence in your field of specialism, including a strong publication record and the ability to attract research funding

- Experience of teaching UG, PGT and PGR students, including international students

- Experience of university administration
