I saw that bird while driving this afternoon. It had a distinct golden tinge to the head and the white band on the tail. Did a double take while driving! Don't think juvenile Bald's are supposed to have a white band, but I'm open to any thoughts. Seems like a juvenile Golden to me, I would have turned around, but I was on the highway so I ebirded it in case it was still in the area.

Has the Golden Eagle report been looked into or confirmed? Seems pretty unlikely, but it would be really cool!
I would bet on a young and darkly colored bald eagle, there are some relatively nearby along the CT River.
