The next installment of "Feathered Fridays" is scheduled for this coming Friday at 7:00 a.m. at Union Village Dam Park in Thetford Center. Judging by the waves of arriving summer residents being reported on the local bird wires, it should be a very active morning. The forecast calls for fine weather too.
We'll be exploring the park's "Mystery Trail" area with its wonderfully diverse habitat that includes riparian buffer, open fields, a pond and its wetlands and a woods of mixed conifer and deciduous trees. Our hosts will be Becky Cook and Ted Boze.
To join us, enter the park through the gate opposite E. C. Brown's Nursery on VT Rt. 113 in Thetford Center. Look for our party at a pull off area on the left about three hundred yards into the park.
The walk is free and open to the public. All levels of experience are welcome. Bring binoculars or a spotting scope if you have one. The lack of recent rain means ground conditions should be mostly dry. The walking surface has uneven stretches once you leave the park's roadway. Sturdy footwear is recommended.
