I can tell you how it would be easy to do something very close to this karaoke presentation using LangLab: the instructor simply creates a lesson with a sequence of items that have no pre-existing content other than a text box for each item. For each item, the student types a sentence or two (or however the instructor wishes the student to break up the speech) in the text box, clicks on Record to record what is in the box, and clicks to go to the next item to continue. For the final item, of course, the instructor may wish to have the student do the whole of the speech. The instructor can then insert comments at any point in each recording if desired or export the text to a file to add comments or corrections, which the instructor can e-mail to the student.
