Did someone else report such a bird a month or two ago? I seem to recall this.

Looking up "white crow", I found a bander from Cornell who said that 1% of the crows he banded each year had white on them somewhere---different parts.

I can imagine a Bald Eagle looking very dark in this kind of dull winter light, especially at a distance, and flying away from you where you would not see the white head so readily. I assume you perceived it as being very large...

I have no idea what I kind of bird I saw this morning on Trues Brook Road in West Lebanon this morning. It looked like a large Raven all jet black except the white tail of an Eagle. It was flying away from me as I drove down the road and I got three pretty good looks at its back side and the very distant white tail. It seems that it must have been an Eagle but I really can’t imagine how it could have looked so jet black in any light. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.
