Hey everybody,
On Saturday, May 31, I'll be leading a bird hike up Mt. Cube in
Orford for the Cross Rivendell Trails Association. We will meet at the
Baker Rd. trailhead at 7:30 and hike to Cube's south summit, listening and
looking for birds along the way. It is a four mile round trip to the
summit, but birders are welcome to return to the trailhead at any time. The
lower part of the trail is good for many species of warblers and other
birds and is not very strenuous. Birders who continue to the summit area
can expect more difficult hiking but more interesting birds. The higher
elevation breeders that occur on Cube include Swainson's Thrush, Blackpoll
Warbler and Yellow-bellied Flycatcher. Bring binoculars and anything you
need for a half-day hike if you plan on going to the top. Please contact me
if you need complete directions or have any other questions. Hope to see
you there! Jeff
