Hey everyone,

Sorry about that mistake again, I didn't mean to hit the send button! Here's my complete report:

So, as I was saying, I was walking to my car, outside my dorm here in Hanover (with my birding equipment on me) when I noticed two dark specks circling very high up in the sky above me. I thought they would probably be hawks, maybe Broad-winged since I had seen several this morning close by. I grabbed my binoculars and took a look- definitely not hawks. These were very dark, large birds with very straight, fairly long necks and long bills. Wingspan was pretty broad, and these birds had fairly long tails (in relation to the body) that were sort of triangular in shape, widening out gradually from the base of the body to the end of the tail (the tail to me seemed to have a more flat rather than curved edge too). While I was watching these birds circle, it struck me that these characteristics reminded me exactly of Anhinga. I've seen Anhinga soar and circle like this before, though I can't say I've seen Cormorants behaving this way (at least not this high up in the sky before). Plus the long necks and tails on these birds really jumped out to me.

Unfortunately these birds, as I alluded to, were circling very high up in the sky. And they were moving fairly quickly with the wind in a southwards direction; within a minute they were gone from view. As a result, I don't have any pictures. (I'm even lucky that I looked upwards at the right time! If I had been at that spot a minute sooner or later, I would have missed the birds). I included my observations and thoughts on the birds I observed in the paragraph above; I would be open to any comments, pro or con, regarding my sighting. I know Anhinga would be a terrific find for NH and would love to hear what any of you think!

Thanks everyone!

Cheers and happy birding,

Man, talk about hitting the wrong button on the keyboard! Let's try this again. I'm going to send this out now just so that people know that I accidentally pressed enter and I will be sending a full COMPLETE (haha, my bad) email very soon!

Stay tuned,
