Judy is right. A decade ago the focus was on digitizing collections and the focus now, in part, is computational analysis of literary texts.

DePauw faculty member Harry Brown has started a DH project of literary text analysis of epitaphs branching from his research in Franco Moretti's work in distant reading although we had to go with students typing text from photographs into Excel which will later be linked to an Access database for searching. I'd check with DH centers to see if you can find what they use for projects like this. Moretti has teamed with Stanford to create a lit lab. There are the Virginia Institute for Advanced Technology in the Humanities and Matrix at Michigan State to name a couple established centers. The Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities has a summer workshop and Indiana U has the Catapult Center. There are several more, but these are a few off the top of my head.
