Nisus Writer was a great word processor from the 90s. The same company is still around, and they sell a word processor with the same name, but it is an entirely new program, currently in two versions, Nisus Writer, and Nisus Writer Pro. It is updated regularly,
and is fully compatible with Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks, as well as earlier OS X versions. So to expand on what Dick said, the name Nisus Writer refers to both a good, old word processor, and a good, new, word processor, with a totally modern code base.
