I am seeking proposals for the session "Flipping the Classroom in Language and Literature Courses" at the upcoming Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association conference scheduled for 9-11 October in Boise, Idaho.

Over the past several years, the flipped classroom has become an ever more popular instructional model at many institutions. The typical example is to remove the ubiquitous lecture from the classroom and make it available to students in a online environment, where students can each view and work with the lecture video at their own pace. The intention of flipping the classroom in this way is to free classroom time for more interactive work, classroom discussions, and small group projects. Yet, there are other models of the flipped classroom that do more than remove the lecture from the classroom and that, therefore, deserve exploration.

This panel seeks to present models for flipping the classroom in language and literature courses that go beyond putting lectures online and that are designed to actively engage students in the learning process.

Please send your proposal to Louise Stoehr ([log in to unmask]). Proposals will be considered on a first-come basis, but are being accepted until 1 March.

Looking forward to interesting proposals,
Louise
