Saw it today where it was supposed to be, Waterbury  Center, VT. I arrived around 11:00 a.m. and commiserated with several (over time, twelve seekers) who had searched with no success. Then, at 11;30 a.m. it was sighted from a pull off on the corner of VT Rt. 100 & Gregg Hill Rd., atop a white pine overlooking the area where it is most often seen.

Interesting, associated avian event. A raven came in and was moving in contracting circles around the hawk owl. After several passes, the raven - a vole in its bill - ended up hovering over the hawk owl. We watched with fascination and angst. Was the raven going to "take" the owl? Did not happen. The raven flew off. Through it all, the hawk owl was unruffled.

Happy birding,
