I thought birders might like to know of a new children's book that follows the life of a finch from hatching through breeding. On each page it also follows the scientists who study the birds and their methods, challenges, and discoveries. It's based on Peter and Rosemary Grant's work and observations of this population of finches adapting to a year and a half with less than an inch of rain and four years later adapting to four and a half feet of rain in 8 months. The birds did amazing things. It's the first in a series about how other species adapt to changes in their environment.
