Nobody has mentioned kaltura.com so far which integrates with the major LMS platforms - Moodle in our case.
We support it in the LRC on our iMacs. That has some limitations, but is still fun: http://thomasplagwitz.com/tag/moodle+kaltura.
Definitely a plus: It's a university-supported tool - but don't fail to look into the privacy implications carefully.
I am about to look into how Kaltura could integrate with our new ePortfolio initiative (implemented with Mahara currently).

Dear Colleagues,

We are looking for suggestions for an online video management system to record, sort and store students' videos. We used to have
www.audioportfolios.com and liked that our students could create portfolios of videos that were easily accessible. We would appreciate any suggestions for any system/tool that our department could afford (Voicethread
is not an option for us).

Thank you !
