Dear Dartmouth Research Colleagues:

As you are aware, the NIH is transitioning to new forms.   Dartmouth has implemented the necessary changes in our on-line proposal submission system, Rapport.   In addition, other institutions and a few of our own users have decided to use new NIH provided Adobe forms.   Typical with new forms and packages, the Adobe forms and the new system-to-system processes are exhibiting some glitches.   The transition to the new forms might result in isolated instances of unexpected results which may require additional time and patience to resolve.

If you experience any difficulties with either Rapport, grants.gov or the Adobe packages, please do not hesitate to email [log in to unmask].

For updates on RAPPORT issues and solutions, please also reference the OSP Rapport website at http://www.dartmouth.edu/~osp/resources/rapgrants.html#hot.

Given the uncertainty about government support over the next few weeks, I would reiterate the OSP deadline policy and strongly encourage that any final submission be made no later than 2 days prior to the deadline.  For October 5 (7) submissions, please plan on submission by no later than the morning of October 3rd.    For submissions on October 16th, please plan for final submission no later than the morning of October 14th.    We will be available to submit earlier than these time frames.     Remember, administrative components and routing is required seven business days before the deadline.   We are anticipating a heavy volume in combination with new NIH forms and a possible government closure.  We will endeavor to submit every proposal successfully with your cooperation.

Keep calm and click on…

Thank you.

Please call me if you have any concerns or questions.

Subject: Grants.gov Operational Status
Importance: High

The Department of Health and Human Services anticipates that the Grants.gov system will remain in an operational status, but with reduced federal support staff presence, should a lapse in appropriations occur.  In addition, we anticipate that the Grants.gov Contact Center will remain available, and provide assistance to callers.  HHS, as Managing Partner, in collaboration with OMB and the Grants.gov Program Management Office, will keep the federal grantor community updated as to the status of the Grants.gov system as plans evolve in the event of a government shutdown.
