I knew it was an Indigo Bunting, but the pictures in the one book I have
with me did not look like my photos which had a lot of white.  But George
confirmed that what I photographed was a young male Indigo Bunting hatched
last summer rather than some deviant version.  It is clearly not the same
bird I have seen in past years in the same spot.  Maybe a returning
offspring?  Don't know if it has a mate.  It certainly knew how to sing.
