And the winner of the ReLANpro Scholarship is……

ReLANpro’s primary goal is to help students improve their language skills. We realize that not all schools have the financial means to provide their students and teachers with 21st Century Learning technology. In order to support schools that are in financial need, we set up the ReLANpro 21st Century Learning Scholarship.

ReLANpro received dozens of applications for the three-year program we posted in February this year. After a careful review by our panel of judges, Mary Help of Christians Academy was awarded with our scholarship. There are a number of reasons why the Mary Help of Christians Academy stood out:

-       For serving students from economically disadvantaged communities

-       For their support of a 1:1 laptop program

-       For their support of multiple languages (English, French, Spanish, and Italian)

-       For their desire to introduce the flipped classroom approach

-       For Mary Help of Christians Academy’s goal to offer their students every opportunity for their personal and professional success.

ReLANpro is proud to be able to support the Mary Help of Christians Academy in achieving their goal while extending our own; to change the face of education by creating software that helps teachers reach their objectives.

Congratulations to Mary Hartnett and the entire Mary Help of Christians Academy.

Until next time…..

For ReLANpro

Mary Help of Christians Academy, a preparatory middle school and high school serving young women primarily from economically disadvantaged communities, would be an ideal school for a 21st Century online language lab, as we have already begun the process of integrating 1:1 technology in our classrooms.  Through the generosity of benefactors, our students have been able to enhance their skills through the use of our 1:1 laptop program, positioning them for personal and academic success.

our academy offers Spanish, French and Italian to our students and a ReLANpro Language package would enable us to expand the learning possibilities for our girls, both within and outside the classroom.  The language lab function would offer our teachers the capability to listen to and immediately correct our students while they practice individual pronunciation exercises, while the teacher software would enable each teacher to upload their own or authentic materials in their respective target languages.  While students prepare skits that would demonstrate their communicative skills, the teacher would be able to guide them using the software, to create a strong final presentation.

Having access to the cloud means that our students’ learning can continue after class time, reinforcing what they have done with their teachers. Homework assignments would include listening to music or watching videos with prompts designed by the teacher, ensuring that specific learning targets would be met.  As more and more teachers are implementing the “flipped classroom” approach, the ReLANpro system would help to facilitate this in our language programs.

Since our school’s network has recently been upgraded, the ReLANpro.NET would be the most efficient system.  Each language classroom could become its own “mini language lab,” eliminating the need for a separate lab area. The individual instructor would be able to schedule listening activities as appropriate for his/her own class, rather than be dependent upon the ability to schedule time in the language lab.

Mary Help of Christians Academy’s goal is to offer every opportunity for the personal and professional future success of our students.  The addition of a ReLANpro system would offer a strong and effective tool to help our girls achieve success while at our academy and prepare them for success as they take their place in an ever-changing multi-cultural society.  We respectfully submit our request to be considered for the ReLANpro 21st Century Learning Scholarship.
