Abundant ruby-throated hummingbirds at our feeders late yesterday and again this evening. Tonight there were 12-15 birds, about evenly split between males and females. The males were perhaps slightly less territorial (agressive) than normal, and the females were downright cooperative - with 2 sometimes sharing the same feeder hole. With gusty wind the hummers much preferred waiting in line at the feeder fixed to a window, rather than using 2 other feeders hanging from branches and in near-constant motion. Elsewhere yesterday, Spencer and I watched an adult Woodcock with 4 very young chicks. Doug Hardy, Norwich
