Instructional Services Specialist (PCH2, salary level
4A)
The Language Media Center in the Division of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures (DWLLC) at the University of Iowa seeks a creative, user-centered, energetic individual to provide user support services,
training and consultation in the development and implementation of digital technologies to enhance instruction in a wide range of DWLLC courses, as well as in other campus language and international studies programs. Specific responsibilities include providing
training and assistance with digital media preparation (audio, video, graphics), serving as DWLLC ICON (course management system) administrator/specialist, providing support for video teleconferencing, consulting and collaborating with faculty staff and TAs
on use of technology for instruction and assessment, and providing training and support for the digital audio language laboratories.
Required qualifications:

BA in foreign language, foreign language/ESL education, applied linguistics, educational technology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience

Experience (typically 1-3 years) with instructional technologies (applications, hardware and software) used in language teaching and learning
·
Extensive proficiency in the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in a multicultural environment and a working proficiency in the ability to work with a variety of individuals
and groups in a constructive and civil manner
·
Working knowledge of all commonly used office support/productivity (word processing, spreadsheets, calendaring, etc.) software.
Desirable qualifications include language teaching experience, working knowledge of best practices of integrating multimedia technology
into language learning/teaching and assessment, knowledge of and/or experience with alternative models of language instruction (distance via video teleconferencing, hybrid, online), working knowledge of audio language laboratory systems, and knowledge of a
broad range of software and hardware tools used in instruction (e.g., wikis, blogs, Blackboard Collaborate, web page development, graphics/image editing, digital media recording and editing).
