Re: Question Dear Ben,

I should have added that the beach-ball starts turning not only when I want to work with a file; I get it even when I open NW preferences to change a setting. It comes up, thus, as long as I’m working with NW.

Takamitsu,

That sounds like the dread rainbow-colored spinning pizza or beach-ball, which is the indicator that the computer is doing something that takes more than a moment.  But of course the real question is what causing it?

Does it happen on every file you try to work on?  Only on large or complex files?  Does it happen for merely opening the file, or when you begin to edit, or when it perhaps automatically saves the file in the background?  With a new file you create and start to type with?

What is your history with Nisus?  Have you been able to work with it fine in the past, and have existing files, or are you trying to start using it now?

Do you have a slow computer?  (model and specs would help in that arena).

It would be expected that only certain tasks would cause this to happen, and the tasks that trigger it would be a clue to the cause and possible solutions.

Not much help, but maybe questions to smoke out the problem?

Hello everybody,

I wonder if any of you could help me.

When I start working on a NW file, a multi-coloured sunflower-like thing appears and starts revolving, which seems to last for ages. So long as it’s turning round, I can’t work on the file. Does anyone know what this is and how can I stop this or get rid of this sunflower?
 It’s a real nuisance.
