from [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> Education Technology in Foreign Languages Position The Center for Language Teaching Advancement (CeLTA) in the College of Arts and Letters at Michigan State University (MSU) seeks to hire an Academic Specialist for curriculum to assist with the development of hybrid and online language courses. This position will begin August 16, 2013 and is for a two-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. Minimal requirements include at least two years¹ experience teaching language in a post-secondary setting, a strong background in computer-assisted language learning, and proven experience in developing and teaching hybrid/online language courses and/or other technology-related experiences. A strong candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of using new technologies to support teaching and learning at the university level and experience producing high-quality audio and video for teaching and learning. In addition, the applicant should be conversant with learning in online environments and learning outcomes, and familiar with learning theories and their practical application. The candidate should have at least an MA degree in Applied Linguistics or Educational Technology, or in a related field. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in teaching Chinese, German, Russian, or English as Second/Foreign Language, as well as to candidates who have experience working with one or more major learning management systems (especiallyDesire2Learn). The candidate¹s responsibilities will include working with language teaching faculty, in consultation with the College Technology Office, to incorporate technological innovations into their classroom teaching and/or developing hybrid and online language courses through faculty training, collaboration, and assistance in course development. Teaching language courses may also be included in the responsibilities. In addition, the individual will contribute to efforts on the part of CeLTA and the College to obtain technology-based grants to support the teaching mission of the College.
