I am not going to be around for the Hanover-Norwich CBC, so I tried for a partial dose of winter birding today. The highlight was a male Hoary Redpoll at the house mid-day today (already reported). It was among a flock of ~70 redpolls and stuck-out surprisingly well, likely a Hornemann's (Greenland) Hoary Redpoll.

Other birds of note included 2 Pine Grosebeaks, 10 Common Goldeneye, 7 Black Ducks, 10 Hooded Mergansers and nearly 200 Mallards in West Lebanon. A flock of 19 Bohemian Waxwings across from the Coop Gardens was a nice surprise.

Good birding and good luck with the CBC,
