Is it just me? Haven't seen any Nisus Digest installments since the captioned one, that's nearly four weeks of deadly silence.
I have only one minor problem with NWP, and I sent Martin a
zipped 117-page file yesterday, at his request, to help solve it.
In a book with many figures and footnotes, white space appears at
the bottom of pages where it should not. This appears to be
related to footnotes on nearby pages, in a manner which is not at
all obvious.
Has anyone else noticed this? Any ideas about what is happening?
This is not an easy problem, because I sic'ed Martin on it at
least a year ago, and periodically receive assurance that it is
being worked on. 'No bug is deep with enough eyes', said Linus,
and while we don't get to (have to?) pore over source code, any
clues at all about what triggers this behavior would help resolve
it.
Every now and then, footnotes appear on the wrong page, a clearly
related bug--and then, in the course of normal text editing, they
move to where they should be. But I've never caught one in the act
of moving, and so never made the process reversible or repeatable.
One repeatable example would probably solve the problem. Keep your
eyes open for this!
