Took a tour alonf rt. 5 north to the Ompompanusic River to Campbell Flats and back to Ledyard Bridge, and Wilder Dam. Highlights were: Rt. 5 near Quonset hut: Baltimore oriole Red-wings Catbirds Grackles Kingbirds Starlings- a family sitting on the telephone wire Cedar Waxwings Pompy/rt. 132: Cliff and Barn Swallows still nesting under the bridge rt. 91. 7 Turkey Vultures- close views 1 Green Heron Mallards Grackles Starlings Canada Geese with family Rock Doves under bridge Campbell Flats: 2 Baltimore Orioles 1M 1F 1 Veery 2 Am. Redstarts Sonf Sparrows 12 Cedar Waxwings House Wren Black & White warbler Field Sparrow ? flycatcher Warbling Vireo 3 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers making a big fuss Ledyard Bridge area: B.oriole m Mallards Y. warblers Grackle Rock Dove nesting under bridge Eastern Phoebe Cedar Waxwings Highlight: Watched a female American Redstart building her nest in a Sumac bush. Pretty amazing. Aslo seen: Brown Thrasher Y. Warbler Catbirds Song Sparrows A short visit to Lyman park behind Listen in White River produced: Ovenbird Red-eyed vireos and more. Great birding spot Sadly, no Bank Swallows or evidence of holes in the bank. Spotted, photographed (and heard) a Pewee near the Beaver Pond on Tigertown Rd.
