Dear IALLT colleague,

Have you already registered for the IALLT SLM 2012? If not, I would like to invite you again to attend  the IALLT Summer Leadership Meeting (SLM)  in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, which will be held from June 7-10, 2012. This event is open for all IALLT members.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to sign up for the Learning Center Design Workshop, which will be offered on June 8th from 9 am until noon. Make your reservations soon, as seats for this workshop are limited.

What exactly is IALLT's Summer Leadership Meeting?
The SLM is IALLT's annual general meeting, in the years in which we don't have a conference. All members are welcome to attend, but attendance at the SLM is mandatory for the Board and Council. Those who can't afford to fly to Ft. Lauderdale can sign up for a virtual attendance. The Board and Council members meet to report on the current status of IALLT, its relationships with its affiliates, publications, public relations, online presence, K-12 outreach, and other topics. Each day is a combination of one large group and several breakout discussions, resulting in action items to be addressed by the Board in the coming year. It is a great opportunity to see how IALLT works, contribute your ideas and get involved. The SLM is held at the site of the next IALLT conference, because it also gives the Board and Council a site visit and a chance to check up on the progress of the host and address any concerns well in advance. This year we are being hosted by Pine Crest School! and Florida Atlantic University.

Attendance at the IALLT Language Center Design workshop costs $50. Hotel accommodations have been arranged at the Sheraton Suites Cypress Creek Fort Lauderdale Hotel (954-772-5400 or www.sheratonsuitescypresscreek.com/.) A block of rooms has been reserved at the rate of $99.00 + tax for single and double occupancy of a suite. The cutoff date for the SLM rate is May 21, 2012.
