Any questions can be submitted to [log in to unmask] __________________________________________________________ IT Administrator II, Modern Foreign Languages & Literatures Requisition Number: 12000000EM The Language Resource Center at the University of Tennessee has an opening for a full-time IT Administrator II. We are seeking a dynamic, creative and self-motivated person who will be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining a variety of technologies used in teaching languages and humanities in a center devoted to revolutionizing language learning, instructional support, and interdisciplinary research. These technologies include multiple workstations in various environments, 3 servers, and a variety of multimedia equipment. Incumbent also participates in coordinating the student staff who help in the day-to-day operation of the center. Duties/Responsibilities: 1) setting up and maintaining dual-platform computer workstations and software, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, and maintaining servers for the center and the MFLL department; 2) assisting in the maintenance and redesign of the center's and department's web page, including scripting and programming for web-based software and utilities for Center and Center-related faculty projects; 3) assisting in training faculty, staff and students in new hardware and software including specialized audio/video/communications software, providing technical support for MFLL personnel; 4) providing assistance in all areas of the Center's services (supervising student staff, responding to general inquiries, scheduling and circulation of Center's resources, etc.) Skills: Minimum/Required Qualifications 1) Bachelor's degree in computer science, educational technology, computer-assisted language learning, or related fields. Minimum 2 years of work experience in maintaining computer workstations and troubleshooting hardware and software problems. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. 2) Working knowledge of Linux, HTML, XML, XHMTL, Active Directory, Javascript, Flash, QuickTime, PHP, and MySQL, as well as applications for the development of web pages and digital media. 3) Experience in server operating systems (e.g., Microsoft Server 2008; Mac OS X Lion Server). 4) Effective oral and written communication skills for interacting with faculty, staff and students. Preferred Qualifications 1) Advanced degree in computer science, educational technology, computer-assisted language learning, or related fields. 2) Knowledge of a foreign language and multilingual computing; fluency in a second language. 3) Knowledge of a broad range of instructional and developmental technologies.
