An update on the two injured geese at Lake Runnemede, we put out some whole corn on the bank by the end-of-the-roadpump house on the west side, and by the fresh droppings, it appeared this food is being eaten. I also saw the two bald eaglesnearby. One flew over my head and perched on a tall pine near the pump house, so I wondered if it might attack someanimals (a goose?) trying to feed? However, the injured geese and the eagles have co-existed on the lake all winter, so maybe not--
Today Michael is going to put out some cracked corn instead and we'll keep checking. Neither of us has a scope and cameraset up, however, so haven't been fully able to see the condition of their wings. If any one of you have the chance to get somepictures, please send them along.
Thanks!
The common merganser is still near the geese, fishing in the open water--a lively sight.
