Alas, it was not so simple solution as changing preferences.

The cause was a gradual failure of the internal workings of the print-heads printer - Epson TX710w Multi-purpose with a CISS ink supply.

Fortunately the Head Office of 'rihac' is in Melbourne. I spoke to a technician there who suggested that I run the usual head cleaning tests until fixed, but each run resulted in a further reduction. On my next contact I said I felt like throwing the printer out but he asked I bring in in for repairs.

I did, and after a couple of hours waiting while head cleans were done followed by refilling the six 100 ml bottles of ink, the printer was like new. Also rihac had updated the Epson files on the printer - at least I assume so as the appearance is different.
