Do I understand you right that you mean to open files in 'default application' - e.g. '.doc' with MSWord, '.cwk' in AppleWorks, '.xls' in Excel, '.rtf' with NWP, '.odt' using OpenOffice/NeoOffice etc.? If so you can use RCDefaultApp 2.1 to select which type of files to be opened in which application - not only text files but a large range of other file types - for example .mkv and .vob to be used with VLC etc.. RCDefaultApp is free and you can download it here: http://www.rubicode.com/Software/RCDefaultApp/ Cheers, Erik Richard -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Erik Richard Sørensen, Member of ADC, <[log in to unmask]> NisusWriter - The Future In Multilingual Text Processing - www.nisus.com Openoffice.org - The Modern Productivity Solution - www.openoffice.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
