I have had hundreds of redpolls here at my many feeders all winter...and I have had an influx of hawks lurking about daily over the past 2 weeks....and, now I have a beautiful barred owl visiting almost daily. ( as a wildlife photographer, I have to admit I'm thrilled).....I haven't witnessed ( nor seen evidence of ) any birds being taken, but I have seen several attempts by the hawks...none by the owls..... There is no doubt that these predators learn where the feeder irds congregate and are, therefore, most vulnerable. I wonder if others have een similar predation at their feeding stations. long with the 43 commons we had a single (that we identifies) hoary redpoll at ur feeders on Saturday 26-March. ean *************************************************************** o post messages, send e-mail to: [log in to unmask] et your e-mail application to PLAIN TEXT ONLY to post messages. o contact the list owner: [log in to unmask] --------------------------------------------------------------- eb based archives and subscription management are available at: ttp://listserv.dartmouth.edu/Archives/uv-birders.html *************************************************************** **************************************************************** To post messages, send e-mail to: [log in to unmask] Set your e-mail application to PLAIN TEXT ONLY to post messages.
