Today marked the first day we spotted our Bluebirds back here in Croydon, NH. The pair was investigating our birdhouses out in the fields. Other FOY birds of note this past week: Red-winged Blackbirds Common Grackles American Robins Dark-Eyed Juncos Still getting flocks of Common Redpolls numbering up to 100 birds at a time. Like others, haven't seen many Goldfinches this winter. Only seen about 5 of our resident Evening Grosbeaks, probably because the squirrels and the Blue Jays are raiding the only feeder big enough for them. Both bird species occasionally try to take seed from a caged feeder meant for small birds like chickadees, which makes for some amusing acrobatics in yellow and blue. Fields still covered completely by snow so no American Woodcock yet... -Lorena Lorena Krenitsky **************************************************************** To post messages, send e-mail to: [log in to unmask] Set your e-mail application to PLAIN TEXT ONLY to post messages.
