To: Language Learning and Technology International Information Forum <[log in to unmask]> Hi Anthony! I still have a working Samsung Multistandard VHS--and an ancient Panasonic AG-W1 that revived when we moved it out of the basement to a dry environment--but we needed to decide what to support in our new building. Because we still have quite a collection of PAL videotapes, the University decided to buy LG multistandard/multiregion DVD/VHS decks that output to PAL. The classroom projectors accept PAL input with no difficulty. For the large-screen TVs in the lab, we have converters to change the output to NTSC. No SECAM support, but we haven't needed that in years. We never had miniDV decks; we use Canopus boxes for any analog to digital conversion we need. There was some discussion of eliminating support for VHS in the classrooms, but no one was willing to do that yet. Hope this helps, Sharon Scinicariello *********************************************** LLTI is a service of IALLT, the International Association for Language Learning Technology (http://iallt.org/), and The Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning (http://www.languageconsortium.org/).
