Right now I think the companies are more focused on the threat posed by streaming video, but remember that a free-of-charge foreign movie festival based on DVDs people own is illegal. On the other hand, I have been thinking lately about international TV channels (since we just lost most of ours) and it would be cool if one could get a group following a serial or movie series on a channel. Presumably they could watch live or one could TIVO it to a convenient time.
