The hawk migration in the fall, along with the songbird migration
in the spring, are nature's two prime bird events for engaging the public in
conservation. For the fall migration we have an assist from an hour long
PBS TV program entitled "Journey of the Broad Winged Hawk" describing the
migration of the Broad Wings from New Hampshire to Ecuador. The charming
host is the Upper Valley's own Will Lange, naturalist, philosopher,
humorist, author and newspaper columnist. In describing the hawks' use of
thermals the program includes a fine hang gliding experience with Lange as
passenger and on site interviews at NH Audubon's hawk watching sites at Pack
Monadnock Mountain in Peterborough and Carter Hill in Concord.

Keep an eye out for this program on both Vermont and New
Hampshire public television. The next showing I see scheduled is Wednesday
night September 22nd at 1100 pm on NHPTV, but I suspect that there may be
other showings on either one or both of those channels in the course of the
next few weeks.

Let's do what we can to get the word out.

            Regards,

            Art
